Larry Gene Sigmon, age 74, of Conover, NC passed away March 28, 2015 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton after a short battle with cancer.

Larry was born on July 6, 1940 in Catawba County to the late Guy Edward Sigmon and Mary Lou Lail Sigmon. He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Conover. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Sunbelt Furniture Express as an independent transporter operator. He was a handyman who cared for his neighbors and anyone in need. Larry enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing....

Larry was born on July 6, 1940 in Catawba County to the late Guy Edward Sigmon and Mary Lou Lail Sigmon. He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Conover. Larry was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Sunbelt Furniture Express as an independent transporter operator. He was a handyman who cared for his neighbors and anyone in need. Larry enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Sigmon.

Larry is survived by a son, Dwayne Sigmon and wife, Susan of Conover; daughters, Angela Sigmon and Fiancé, Eric Isenhower of Conover, Karen Starnes and husband, Jeff of Conover; sister, Jayne Wilson of Conover; grandchildren, Hannah Starnes, Haley Starnes, Jared Sigmon, Justin Sigmon; Special friend, Marlene Coffey of Conover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Oxford Baptist Church in Conover with Rev. Joel Frye officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:45 at the church. A graveside service with military honors will follow at Conover City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rocky Sigmon, James "Speedy" Sigmon, Marshall Griffin, Jared Sigmon, Hunter Winkler, and Mack Isenhower.
