Barbara Jo Hornick, 69, of Conover went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her residence.
Born September 7, 1945 in Lewis County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Roscoe and Rose Kerrigan Beachler. She was employed as a nurse and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Conover. Barbara Jo had a calling to be a caregiver, thus being a great nurse and helping many. She shared a very special love and life with her children and grandchildren. When she had time with her grandchildren that became their special "date night" and each cherished their special time with Memaw.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 39 years, Dorsey Eugene Hornick. They were married on August 15, 1970 and had a beautiful life together and blessed with 2 boys, Charles and Chris. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Connie Williams.
Left here to relish in wonderful memories are sons, Charles Hornick and wife Mary and Chris Hornick; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hornick, Kaitlin Hornick, and Matthew Hornick; brothers, Nathan Beachler, Kenny Williams and David Beachler; and a sister, Linda Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Conover. Rev. Mickey Moree will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 235, Conover NC 28613 or to the First United Methodist Youth.
